[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] As Justice Minister Choo Mi-ae issued a final ultimatum saying she would "wait one more day" after Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol did not respond to the investigative directive she activated regarding the 'prosecutor-media collusion' allegations, Kim Woong, a member of the Future United Party, criticized Choo's ultimatum as "resembling a certified letter sent by a loan shark."

Kim, the author of 'Prosecutor Civil War' and a former prosecutor, wrote on his Facebook on the 8th, "If the logic is that one can arbitrarily issue directives just because the law allows it, then it is the same as saying the president can arbitrarily declare martial law because it is stipulated in the constitution."

He further criticized, "Is a phone call made for one's son public (gong) rather than private (sa), and righteous (jeong) rather than evil (sa)?"

Earlier that day, Minister Choo publicly demanded through the spokesperson's office that Prosecutor General Yoon respond to whether he would accept the investigative directive.

In her statement, Minister Choo said, "We must not continue down the wrong path any longer. I will wait one more day until 10 a.m. on the 9th. I await the wise judgment of Prosecutor General (Yoon Seok-yeol)."

She added, "A week has already passed. Public (gong) and private (sa) cannot go together. Righteous (jeong) and evil (sa) cannot go together."

Prosecutor General Yoon has yet to issue an official statement as of this day, despite receiving an investigative directive on the 2nd to halt the convening of the expert investigative advisory panel related to the prosecutor-media collusion allegations and to step back from the investigation.
