[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] Gimhae City in Gyeongnam announced on the 8th that it will hold a briefing session for the recruitment of resident businesses following the appointment ceremony of the Tourism Dure PD, a local activist who will carry out the project selected by the Korea Tourism Organization's 2020 Tourism Dure Creation Project.
Tourism Dure is a government policy project aimed at encouraging residents to solve local tourism issues by themselves, helping them to start and operate tourism businesses that reflect local characteristics in areas such as accommodation, food and beverage, travel, and experiences.
Fourteen regions nationwide were selected for this project, and in Gyeongnam, Gimhae, Geoje, and Jinju were chosen. Jang Ji-hye was selected as the Tourism Dure PD for Gimhae.
The Tourism Dure PD acts as an activist who supports the discovery and nurturing of resident-led tourism businesses, followed by the establishment of corporate enterprises and sustainable growth, with an activity period of 3 to a maximum of 5 years.
The city presented the appointment letter to PD Jang and, together with the Gyeongnam branch of the Korea Tourism Organization, held the first briefing session for the 2020 Tourism Dure resident business recruitment project in the meeting room of the City Hall Business Office, led by Jeong Chang-ho, head of the Gyeongnam Tourism Dure Cooperation Center. The second briefing session will be held on the 13th at the Social Community Support Center's main conference room.
The Tourism Dure resident business recruitment project is hosted and organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization, accepting applications until the 24th. After the first face-to-face screening and the second on-site inspection, the selection results will be announced at the end of August. Selected businesses will receive up to 70 million KRW in support over three years.
A city official said, "We expect this Tourism Dure project to revitalize the tourism industry, which has been stagnant due to COVID-19, as well as to foster sustainable tourism businesses based on resident communities."
