Gwangju City Implements Additional Gathering Restrictions on Wedding Hall Buffet Restaurants

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 8th that it will designate buffet restaurants within wedding halls, which have a high risk of COVID-19 cluster infections, as high-risk facilities and implement gathering restrictions from 6 p.m. on the 8th until further notice.

This measure targets buffet restaurants within wedding halls, which were excluded from the government's high-risk facilities list, and an additional 36 buffet restaurants identified through on-site investigations.

The targeted facilities are advised to refrain from operating as much as possible, and if operation is unavoidable, they must strictly comply with core quarantine rules and mandatorily use electronic entry logs.

The core quarantine rules include ▲preparing and managing visitor logs (electronic entry logs) ▲checking symptoms at the entrance and restricting entry of symptomatic individuals ▲appointing a quarantine manager ▲requiring business owners and workers to wear masks ▲checking workers' symptoms at least once a day and sending symptomatic workers home (with record keeping) ▲disinfecting facilities before and after events or business activities (with record keeping), among others.

Users of the targeted facilities must also comply with core quarantine rules such as ▲registering on the entry log (scanning QR code) ▲cooperating with symptom checks ▲wearing masks ▲maintaining a distance of at least 2 meters (minimum 1 meter) between users.

The city and autonomous districts will visit the targeted businesses directly by the 17th to provide guidance and education on core quarantine rules and the electronic entry log system, and from the 18th, they plan to conduct inspections to verify compliance with quarantine rules.

If quarantine rules are violated, business owners will face gathering bans and be reported (with fines up to 3 million KRW), and users will also be reported (with fines up to 3 million KRW).
