Daejeon City Hall Introduces 'QR Code Electronic Entry Log'

[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Daejeon City government announced that starting from the 8th, it will introduce an electronic entry log system using QR codes in the city hall building.

Before the introduction of the electronic entry log, visitors to city hall, such as civil petitioners, had to go through the inconvenience of filling out a manual logbook.

However, with the introduction of the electronic entry log, visitors can now obtain an encrypted one-time QR code via the Naver app or KakaoTalk on their smartphones, scan it on a tablet PC screen installed at the entrance, complete the authentication process, and then enter.

The city will also maintain the existing manual logbook as a supplementary option to ensure choice for those unfamiliar with QR code usage or who do not use smartphones.

The electronic entry log system was developed and distributed by the Ministry of Health and Welfare based on QR codes to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and to support quarantine measures.

The electronic entry log system encrypts and stores personal information and visit records in a distributed manner at the Social Security Information Service during normal times, and only combines them when necessary so that quarantine authorities can utilize visitor status at facilities.

Visit records are stored for up to 4 weeks (twice the incubation period of the COVID-19 virus) and are automatically destroyed afterward.

Jung Hae-gyo, Director of the Autonomy and Decentralization Bureau of the city, said, “For the safety of all of us, we ask for active cooperation from city hall visitors in using the electronic entry log.”
