[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Seulgi Kim] Busan city health authorities have reported a Japanese national to the police for leaving his self-quarantine location without permission three times.


Busan city announced on the 8th that it reported a man in his 50s, Mr. A, of Japanese nationality to the police on charges of violating the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act for leaving his quarantine location despite being notified of self-quarantine.


According to the city, Mr. A arrived at Incheon Airport on the 3rd after departing from Japan.


Mr. A, who was asymptomatic upon arrival, passed through the quarantine checkpoint at Incheon Airport and then took the KTX train designated for overseas arrivals to Busan.


On the afternoon of the 3rd, Mr. A underwent a COVID-19 test at the Busan Station screening clinic and received a negative result on the 5th.


However, Mr. A left his self-quarantine location on the day he received the negative test result.


According to the city, on the afternoon of the 5th around 3 PM, Mr. A left his residence in Dongnae-gu, Busan, to withdraw cash from an ATM near his home.


Then, around noon on the 6th, he visited a postal handling office and a large discount store consecutively.


Meanwhile, it has been reported that a total of 43 people have been caught leaving self-quarantine in Busan. Among them, 31 were overseas arrivals and 12 were contacts of confirmed cases.
