[Breaking News] Foreigner Confirmed Positive for COVID-19 Frequently Leaving Self-Quarantine... Two Family Members Also Infected

[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] It has been confirmed that a man from Uzbekistan who tested positive for COVID-19 left his self-quarantine location without permission and engaged in outside activities for 10 days prior to his positive diagnosis.

According to Chungnam Province and Geumsan County on the 8th, a man in his 30s from Uzbekistan who was notified of his positive test on the 7th violated self-quarantine guidelines.

The man was classified as a close contact of Daejeon patient number 103 on the 26th of last month and was instructed to self-quarantine. Although he tested negative at that time, he was notified of a positive COVID-19 diagnosis after a retest conducted 10 days later.

Investigations revealed that during the 10 days, the confirmed man lived with his wife and 3-year-old daughter, who were not subject to self-quarantine, in his home and carried on with daily life. He frequently went out leaving his mobile phone at home, and his daughter attended daycare normally until the 30th of last month, before the daycare was closed.

The man's wife and daughter were also notified of their positive COVID-19 diagnoses on the same evening.

Geumsan County plans to report the man to the police on charges of violating the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act.
