[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Young-gyun] Hwasun County, Jeollanam-do (County Governor Gu Chung-gon) temporarily closed the county health center for one day on the 8th.
The county announced on the same day that this measure was taken following the confirmation that a family member of a county health center employee residing in Gwangju Metropolitan City tested positive on the evening of the 7th.
The confirmed case (number not assigned) was tested and confirmed positive after overlapping movements with Gwangju case number 117 and the Gwangju Exam Academy.
The county immediately placed the health center staff under self-quarantine and proactively closed the health center and the screening clinic within the health center temporarily on the same day, conducting disinfection and sterilization.
Also, on the morning of the same day, specimen collection from all health center employees was completed, and all were ordered to self-isolate at home.
Due to the temporary closure of the health center, COVID-19 prevention, consultation, and specimen collection for infectious disease response will be carried out at the drive-thru screening clinic installed in the second parking lot of Haneum Culture Center on the 2nd.
County Governor Gu Chung-gon said, “We apologize for the inconvenience caused to residents due to the temporary closure of the health center, but please understand that this is a preemptive measure to prevent COVID-19,” and added, “I ask all residents to refrain from entering high-risk facilities that are enclosed, crowded, and close-contact, and to comply with personal hygiene rules such as wearing masks and washing hands, with the mindset that you are the gatekeepers protecting ‘Hwasun.’”
