[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] A designer who suffered damage after being placed on the 'cultural blacklist' during the Park Geun-hye and Lee Myung-bak administrations filed a lawsuit for damages against former Blue House Senior Secretary for Political Affairs Cho Yoon-sun but lost the case.
On the 8th, Judge Kang Young-ho of the Seoul Central District Court Civil Division 1002 dismissed the claim filed by designer Hong against former Minister Cho.
In 2017, Hong claimed 3 million won in compensation from former Senior Secretary Cho, stating that being listed on the blacklist infringed on his freedom of conscience and thought and caused mental distress that prevented him from engaging in creative activities.
The blacklist refers to a list created and managed by the National Intelligence Service at the time to exclude certain cultural and artistic figures from government support and restrict their activities.
