Congratulatory Message on the 9th Information Security Day... "We Became an Information and Communication Powerhouse Through Cybersecurity Strength"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] President Moon Jae-in stated in his congratulatory speech on the 8th at the '9th Information Security Day' that "the domestic information security market will be expanded to 20 trillion won by 2025, creating more than 30,000 jobs."
President Moon said, "Recently, with the advent of a non-face-to-face society, the safety of 'cyberspace' has become even more important," adding, "We have become a strong information and communication nation through the power of 'cybersecurity.' Security programs developed with the passion of many venture entrepreneurs have laid the foundation for our country to maintain the world's number one internet usage rate, and through public interest and public-private cooperation, we have achieved technological development and growth in the information security industry."
President Moon said, "Information security technology also played a significant role in overcoming COVID-19. We were able to defend against hacking attempts on diagnostic kit development companies to protect corporate intellectual property rights, and security technology was utilized in the epidemiological investigation process to safely protect personal information."
President Moon evaluated, "The successful implementation of nationwide remote work and online school openings with millions of students accessing simultaneously was also supported by a robust cybersecurity network."
President Moon asserted, "We are now the first in the world to commercialize 5G technology, accelerating the spread of smart cities, smart factories, and autonomous vehicles, and rapidly transitioning to a digital economy. It is urgent to foster non-face-to-face industries in preparation for the 'post-COVID era.'"
In this regard, President Moon said, "The government is promoting the ‘K-Cyber Defense’ system to establish a new and robust cybersecurity framework suitable for the digital era, reflecting a supplementary budget of 25.8 billion won for this purpose," adding, "We plan to support small and medium-sized enterprises vulnerable to cyber threats and promote the growth of the security technology industry."
Earlier, the government also announced last month the ‘2nd Information Security Industry Promotion Plan,’ which focuses on developing next-generation security technologies, deregulation, and training specialized personnel.
President Moon said, "'Cyberspace' is the fourth territory. I hope that 'Information Security Day' will serve as an opportunity for our citizens and companies to recognize the importance of information security, and I look forward to your strong support so that the lives of our people, corporate assets, and national infrastructure can be protected."
