[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dobong-gu (Mayor Dongjin Lee) partnered with Korea Land and Housing Corporation (Seoul Regional Headquarters Director Seung-sik Oh) on the 6th to activate a “housing welfare community exclusively for the elderly.”
The main content of this agreement is that Korea Land and Housing Corporation is responsible for matters related to housing operation such as the construction of “Haesimdang,” a community housing for the elderly, selection of residents and operators, and community education, while Dobong-gu supports projects related to integrated housing welfare services such as health, care, and jobs.
Through this agreement, Dobong-gu and Korea Land and Housing Corporation plan to mutually cooperate in the future on ▲participation in governance for the continuous supply of community housing for the elderly that is regionally friendly ▲cooperation and support for the operation of social welfare and medical services for residents ▲cooperation and support for cultural and educational activities conducted with residents and the local community ▲cooperation and support for job (economic activity) projects for residents and the local community.
At the signing ceremony, Seung-sik Oh, Director of the Seoul Regional Headquarters of Korea Land and Housing Corporation, said, “We are looking forward to the pilot project for housing exclusively for the elderly being promoted in Dobong-gu, and it will contribute not only to housing stability for the elderly but also to the activation of community and integration of the local society.”
Korea Land and Housing Corporation is currently constructing “Haesimdang,” a community housing for the elderly, in the area of 23, Sirubong-ro 17-gil, Dobong-gu (Banghak-dong).
“Haesimdang” (海心堂) means a house where the elderly can live with a comfortable mind. It is scheduled to be completed around December this year, with a scale of basement 1 to 4 floors above ground and a total floor area of 1,489㎡.
Haesimdang is the first small-scale housing nationwide to acquire BF (Barrier-Free) certification by removing thresholds, installing elderly-customized windows, adjustable furniture, etc., minimizing inconvenience for the disabled or elderly. A total of 21 elderly households will move in.
In addition, spaces for leisure activities such as a community space on the first floor, a shared living room, and a rooftop garden are also provided, which is expected to contribute to community activation.
Dongjin Lee, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “With the establishment of ‘Haesimdang,’ a housing facility exclusively for the elderly, the elderly in Dobong-gu will be able to spend a more stable old age, and it is expected that they will enjoy a high-quality residential environment and welfare services together. We will work continuously in joint cooperation with LH to make this pilot project in Dobong-gu a good model.”
