[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) conducted the ‘2020 Jungnang-gu Residents Energy Saving Cool Dressing Campaign’ on the 7th at Woorim Market under the theme ‘Health + Love for the Earth with Cool Dressing.’

This campaign was organized with the purpose of overcoming the heat and saving energy through easy-to-practice summer energy-saving methods such as simple dressing and adjusting cooling temperatures. Fifteen participants, including the Seoul Promise Jungnang Citizen Practice Group and Jungnang-gu Housewives Environmental Volunteer Group, took part.

The district distributed energy-saving promotional fans to residents using Woorim Market and encouraged participation in the campaign by loosening neckties and wearing sleeveless shirts and shorts.

Additionally, to spread the culture of energy saving during the summer when energy consumption increases, the campaign promoted maintaining appropriate indoor temperatures in summer (26℃ or higher for private buildings, 28℃ or higher for public institutions), a signature campaign pledging to reduce greenhouse gases by 1 ton per person, and the Eco Mileage system.

Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “Let’s spend this summer wisely by making energy saving a daily habit through cool dressing,” and added, “I hope this campaign will serve as an opportunity to spread the energy-saving movement throughout the local community.”

During this campaign, over 560 people signed the pledge to reduce greenhouse gases by 1 ton per person, and about 160 people joined the Eco Mileage program, receiving great support from the residents.
