[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] A total of 15 new 'Star Companies' in the Ulsan region were finally selected for 2020.

On the 7th, Ulsan City announced that it held the '2020 Regional Star Company Designation Certificate Award Ceremony' at the Ulsan Technopark conference room, attended by about 30 people including Jo Won-kyung, Deputy Mayor of Economy, Yoo Dong-jun, Head of Regional Enterprise Development at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and representatives of Star Companies.

The event included the awarding of the 2020 Regional Star Company designation certificates and a presentation of the 2019 Star Company achievements.

The 'Star Company' designation project is a business that provides management support to regional small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with an average sales revenue of 2.5 billion to 50 billion KRW over the past three years, and with more than 70% of regular employees among at least 10 full-time workers, to help them establish a foundation to grow into global strong SMEs.

The companies that received the designation certificates on this day are ㈜Encoanetworks, Ichemical Co., Ltd., ㈜Taeseong Environmental Research Institute, ㈜Geonyang, ㈜Sehong, ㈜Yangsu Metal, Lotech Engineering Co., Ltd., ㈜Shinwoo Hightech, ㈜Suntech, Jeonjin Industry Co., Ltd., ㈜Wooju Special Industry, Daeyoung Tech, ㈜Jeyoung SMT, ㈜Jungwoon, and Gil Engineering Co., Ltd., totaling 15 companies.

These 15 companies were selected based on criteria such as managerial qualifications, future growth potential, management evaluation, overseas market entry and potential, through document evaluation, on-site investigation, selection evaluation, and an operations committee.

Ulsan Technopark provides a 'Business Growth Plan Consultation Service' to help Star Companies enter the global strong SME category. It also plans to support up to 40 million KRW per company annually to promote technology innovation activities autonomously planned by the Star Companies through industry-academia-research collaboration.

An official from Ulsan City said, "We will continue to support regional SMEs with growth potential to grow into mid-sized companies. Despite difficult circumstances, we will continuously discover SMEs that invigorate the local economy and lead innovative growth, and establish a system that enables them to grow into mid-sized companies."
