Boseong Dahyang Festival Wins 'Korea Festival Content Award' for 4 Consecutive Years

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Yong-chul] The Boseong Dahyang Festival won the ‘Grand Prize in the Festival Global Premium Category’ for the fourth consecutive year at the 2020 Korea Festival Content Awards hosted by the Korea Festival Content Association.

According to Boseong County on the 7th, the county integrated the operation of five representative festivals of Boseong last year: the Boseong Dahyang Festival, Seopyeonje Boseong Sound Festival, Illimsan Azalea Cultural Event, Yulpo Beach Live Fish Catching Festival, and Boseong Citizens’ Day.

As a result, about 600,000 tourists visited during the event period, generating a regional economic effect worth 76.6 billion KRW, which received favorable evaluations.

In particular, the Boseong Dahyang Festival attracted great attention by enhancing and expanding killer contents such as tea leaf picking, tea making, and tea drinking, and established a kids’ zone for children, capturing family tourists.

As a result, it was selected as a cultural tourism festival designated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2020, firmly maintaining its status as Korea’s representative and authentic tea culture festival.

The Korea Festival Content Awards evaluate regional festivals held nationwide over the year that have contributed to regional development, revitalized the local economy, or have great potential for future development.

The Boseong Dahyang Festival has won the ‘Grand Prize in the Festival Global Premium Category’ four times in a row up to this year.

A county official said, “We will continue to operate the Boseong Dahyang Festival, Korea’s largest tea culture festival, with substance and nurture it into a festival enjoyed by people around the world.”

Meanwhile, the Boseong Dahyang Festival scheduled to be held this year was canceled due to the spread of COVID-19.
