9th Webinar of the International Infectious Disease Control Cooperation Task Force for COVID-19 Response
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The government announced on the 7th that it will hold the 9th webinar on the 8th to share policies and experiences related to the response to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) K-Quarantine with the world.
This 9th webinar is the final seminar in the K-Quarantine series, organized by the International Quarantine Cooperation Task Force (TF), systematically sharing Korea's quarantine experiences by topic with the international community. It is hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety under the theme "Policies and Experiences in the Election Sector Amid the COVID-19 Situation."
In particular, Korea's election response case, which conducted the first nationwide election in the world after the COVID-19 pandemic declaration, achieving a high voter turnout of 66.2% and zero infection cases, has attracted significant interest from many countries overseas.
The webinar will begin with an opening address by Yoon Jong-in, Vice Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, followed by presentations on ▲voting systems for COVID-19 confirmed and self-quarantined individuals ▲quarantine measures at polling stations and voting systems for general voters ▲vote counting methods and post-voting follow-up measures.
After the lectures, a Q&A session will be held, receiving pre-submitted questions from officials of various countries as well as real-time questions from the field.
The webinar will provide simultaneous interpretation in Korean, English, French, Spanish, and Russian, allowing real-time participation from anywhere in the world via the website. For countries where real-time viewing is difficult due to time differences, the lecture and on-site Q&A videos will be posted later on the integrated bulletin board managed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' overall TF.
The overall TF-hosted webinars have been held eight times since May on various topics related to COVID-19, with about 3,100 participants from 120 countries.
Yoon Jong-in, Vice Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, said, "Through this webinar, we have the opportunity to share Korea's election experiences," adding, "We hope that our experiences and cases will help countries conducting elections in the future to successfully hold safe and fair elections."
