[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Jo] A man in his 30s who was classified as a suspected case of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and prosecuted for violating self-quarantine guidelines has been sentenced to a fine.

On the morning of the 7th, Judge Lee Ki-hong of the Seoul Central District Court Criminal Division 24 sentenced Kang Mo (30), who was prosecuted for violating the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act, to a fine of 3 million won.

Kang was notified of self-quarantine on March 1 after coming into contact with a confirmed COVID-19 patient in late February. However, Kang was brought to trial on charges of violating self-quarantine rules four times, including visiting a colleague's residence and attending a wedding from the following day.
