[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] Contemporary dancer Kim Seol-jin will perform the monodrama "Japari" at Sejong Center S Theater from July 15 to 19.
"Japari" is the second performance in the Sejong Center's planned program "Contemporary S," which was first introduced last year. "Contemporary S" is a stage that utilizes the S Theater space to present new and experimental works. The first performance last year, "Kim Joo-won's Tango Ballet," sold out all shows and received enthusiastic attention.
In this work, Kim Seol-jin will physically portray the most important theme, "playfulness." He expressed his determination, saying, "This will be a completely different work from what I have shown in previous media."
Director Min Jun-ho of "Japari" explained, "Usually, moving to something is called dance, but 'Japari' is a performance that does not try to appear as a conventional, stereotyped dance." He added, "I believe that dance itself, movement itself has language, and I will show parts that cannot be expressed through narrative by using playful, improvisational movements. I will create a stage where artist Kim Seol-jin can fully express his playful nature."
Tickets for "Japari" can be purchased through Sejong Culture Ticket and other major ticketing platforms.
