Lotte Confectionery Launches Two Types of Gum for Chewing While Studying and Exercising


[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] Lotte Confectionery announced on the 7th that it has launched two new gum products, ‘Gum for Studying’ and ‘Gum for Exercising.’


The products apply a marketing strategy (TPO) that segments products according to Time, Place, and Occasion, making the product features clear from the names themselves.


‘Gum for Studying’ is based on the concept of helping to improve fatigue by adding ginsenosides extracted from red ginseng concentrate, while ‘Gum for Exercising’ contains vitamins B2 and B3, which help generate energy in the body.


The gum is designed in a flat case that can be folded for easy portability, with a recommended retail price of 1,500 won.


Recently, as the trend in gum has shifted towards functional gums, Lotte Confectionery has been continuously releasing products emphasizing functionality. In April of this year, they renewed their representative brand for bad breath removal, ‘Hoorabono,’ introducing ‘Hoorabono Mix’ in a container and ‘Non-Spitting Hoorabono’ in chewing candy form. In May, they also launched ‘Mouth Water’ gum, which helps saliva production to prevent dry mouth.
