[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The mutilated body of a kitten, with only its torso remaining, was found in an apartment in Haeundae, Busan, prompting the police to track down the perpetrator.

On the 6th at 3:07 PM, a resident discovered the mutilated kitten's body in the underground parking lot of Building 102, S Apartment, Banyeo-dong, Haeundae-gu, and reported it to 112.

According to Busan police on the 7th, the severely mutilated kitten's body was found by a resident at 10 AM that day.

The cat's head was severed, leaving only the torso, and one leg was also cut off and found nearby.

The police, who responded to the report, have obtained nearby CCTV footage and are conducting a tracking investigation.

Animal protection groups also urged the police for a swift investigation. The Busan Animal Abuse Prevention Association stated, "The head was never found, and one of the other legs was almost completely severed," demanding a police investigation and punishment for the perpetrator.

A representative of the Animal Abuse Prevention Association said, "There were no signs of a traffic accident, nor were there any tear marks like those caused by fights between animals," adding, "We also received an opinion from a veterinarian that it appears to have been cut by a person."

The organization said, "Animal abuse could occur again and could also lead to crimes against people," emphasizing, "For crime prevention, a swift and proper investigation and punishment are necessary."
