[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] Samhwa Paint Industrial Co., Ltd. announced on the 7th that it has supported heat-reflective paint for facilities for people with developmental disabilities in preparation for the summer heatwave.
Starting this year, Samhwa Paint, which is conducting a space welfare support project for social welfare corporation Ddaddeuthan Donghaeng and facilities for people with developmental disabilities, selected the first beneficiary as the group home for people with developmental disabilities "Gibun Joheun Group Home (Incheon Michuhol)" and applied heat-reflective waterproof paint on the rooftop of an old house on the 3rd and 4th.
The heat-reflective paint used to support welfare facilities for the disabled is the Spicule Aqua product, an eco-friendly water-based paint. It contains special pigments with heat-blocking effects, and just by applying it to walls and rooftops, it keeps the interior comfortable. It can reduce the exterior wall temperature, which rises up to 50-60 degrees Celsius due to solar heat in summer, down to 40 degrees Celsius, saving energy.
The product used has obtained certification from the U.S. Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC), which tests and evaluates the solar reflectance and emissivity performance of materials applied to building rooftops or roofs, ensuring reliability in energy saving.
A Samhwa Paint official explained, "Heat-reflective paint blocks solar heat absorption, lowers indoor temperature, and reduces cooling costs," adding, "With the summer starting hotter than ever with heatwaves and masks, heat-reflective paint will help people have a cooler summer."
Heat-reflective paint is a product that can actively respond to climate and environmental changes such as heatwaves and global warming. Due to demand for energy-saving coatings suitable for high-temperature phenomena in summer caused by abnormal climate and eco-friendly trends, sales have steadily increased, growing about 30% annually on average. This year, with the launch of Byroad Cool, the company plans to expand into the road-use market and focus on increasing heat-reflective paint sales.
Meanwhile, the social welfare corporation Ddaddeuthan Donghaeng, which collaborates on the space welfare project, was established in 2010 as a purely non-profit organization that supports space welfare for people with disabilities, advanced assistive devices, job creation, volunteer activities, and international development cooperation.
