Gangbuk-gu Supplies 'Eco-friendly Agricultural Product Packages' to Pregnant Women

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Kyumsu) will supply eco-friendly agricultural product packages to about 400 pregnant women in the area for 12 months starting in the second half of this year.

The project is being promoted to open sales opportunities for farmers struggling due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and to provide high-quality agricultural products to pregnant women.

The packages consist of fresh agricultural products certified as eco-friendly, some livestock products, and processed foods. Up to 480,000 KRW worth of goods will be supported over 12 months, with 240,000 KRW worth of packages supplied first in the second half of this year and an additional 240,000 KRW worth of packages provided later.

The target beneficiaries are mothers who gave birth after January 1, 2020, and pregnant women. However, mothers who gave birth in 2019 but registered the birth after January 1, 2020, are also eligible.

Applicants must submit a resident registration certificate along with pregnancy and childbirth verification documents such as a pregnancy confirmation letter or maternal handbook through the Seoul Farmer Portal online application by 6 p.m. on December 15.

Once confirmed as eligible, applicants can purchase packages from a designated online mall. Applicants can buy products worth between 30,000 KRW and 60,000 KRW up to twice a month. When ordering, 80% of the amount is supported, and the remaining 20% must be paid by the applicant. Delivery is non-face-to-face in principle, and items will be delivered to the applicant’s desired location through the company.

Once the selection of the online mall operator currently underway is completed, ordering and delivery are expected to begin in July.

Park Kyumsu, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, said, “This project will contribute to improving the health of children and pregnant women by providing healthy food and increasing farmers’ income through enhanced producer profits. We will do our best to manage quality so that the supply of packages leads to continuous consumption of eco-friendly agricultural products.”
