Support of Eco-friendly Agricultural Product Packages Worth 480,000 KRW Over 12 Months for 768 Pregnant Women Living in Jungnang-gu
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) will support eco-friendly agricultural product packages for 768 pregnant women in the area.
This is to support farmers who are having difficulties finding sales channels for agricultural products due to COVID-19 and to take care of the health of pregnant women.
The support target is pregnant women residing in Jungnang-gu whose pregnancy or childbirth has been confirmed this year. They will be provided with certified eco-friendly agricultural and livestock products and processed foods worth 480,000 KRW over 12 months (including a 20% personal contribution).
The district will first supply agricultural products worth 240,000 KRW per person by the end of the year and plans to supply an additional 240,000 KRW worth in early next year.
The eco-friendly agricultural product support service will recruit on a first-come, first-served basis through the Seoul Farmer Portal until December 15. When applying, applicants must submit a resident registration certificate and pregnancy or childbirth verification documents. However, beneficiaries of the Nutrition Plus program cannot receive support.
With the provided support fund, purchases of agricultural products can be made up to twice a month, with each purchase ranging from 30,000 to 60,000 KRW. Applicants can choose items according to their preference from ▲ a selective type where individual items are chosen ▲ a complete package type in the form of a bundle ▲ or a program type where 3 to 12 months’ worth can be applied for at once.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “We will ensure that pregnant women who find it difficult to go out due to COVID-19 can safely receive eco-friendly agricultural products at home,” and added, “We hope this agricultural product support will bring new vitality to both suppliers and consumers.”
In March, the district provided five KF94 masks to about 2,000 pregnant women residing in Jungnang-gu and mothers who gave birth after December 1, 2019, supporting COVID-19 infection prevention and healthy childbirth.
