[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] An accomplice of Jo Joo-bin (24, detained and indicted), the operator of the Telegram 'Baksa Bang' who produced and distributed sexual exploitation materials, was finally detained after two requests for an arrest warrant.
On the 6th, Judge Won Jeong-sook, head of the warrant division at the Seoul Central District Court, held a pre-arrest suspect interrogation (warrant substantive examination) for Nam Mo (29), who is accused of joining a criminal organization, violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (filming using cameras, etc.), and coercion, and issued an arrest warrant.
Judge Won explained the reason for issuing the warrant, saying, "Although there was legal dispute regarding some of the charges, additional criminal facts were proven after the initial warrant examination. Considering that sexual exploitation materials were obtained through the suspect's inducement, and in light of the suspect's attitude toward evidence and victims after the crime, there is a concern of evidence destruction. Taking all these into account, the grounds and appropriateness of detaining the suspect are recognized."
Nam is accused of acting as a paid member of 'Baksa Bang,' luring victims himself, and participating in Jo Joo-bin's production of sexual exploitation materials. He is also accused of threatening victims by imitating Jo Joo-bin's crimes.
The police applied for an arrest warrant for Nam last month, but the court dismissed it, stating, "There is room for dispute regarding some charges such as joining a criminal group."
The police reinforced the evidence and reapplied for Nam's arrest warrant on the 2nd of this month.
