[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi-do Firefighting Skills Competition will be held for three days from the 7th to the 9th at the Gyeonggi-do Fire Academy located in Yongin.
In this competition, 248 participants from 30 fire stations across the province will compete in six events across five categories: Rescue (Strongest Firefighter and Applied Rescue Tactics), Fire Suppression (Speed Water Spray), Emergency Medical Services (First Aid Team Tactics), and Fit Firefighter.
The Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters will sum the scores by event to select five winners: Champion (1 place), Runner-up (2 places), and Encouragement Award (2 places). Additionally, 48 individuals, including the strongest firefighters, will receive individual awards, which will be reflected in the evaluation of fire stations.
Notably, the first-place winners in each category (Strongest Firefighter 1st and 2nd place) will represent Gyeonggi-do at the national competition held at the Central Fire Academy in Gongju, Chungnam, on September 23-24. Last year, the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters received the Prime Minister's Award at the national competition.
A representative from the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters stated, "Since this event is held amid the COVID-19 situation, we plan to pay special attention to safety while selecting outstanding firefighters."
