Running Event Goes Virtual... Mercedes-Benz 'Give & Race Virtual Run' Now Accepting Participants

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee announced on the 6th that it will recruit 10,000 participants on a first-come, first-served basis for the donation culture spreading running event, the 5th Mercedes-Benz GIVE ‘N RACE Virtual Run, which will be held in an untact (non-face-to-face) format over two days starting from the 25th.

This GIVE ‘N RACE Virtual Run allows participants to run at their preferred time and place during the 48-hour event period due to the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). By using the GPS-based smartphone health application ‘Strava (STRAVA)’, participants can check their records and rankings among other participants.

The participation fee for the GIVE ‘N RACE Virtual Run is 50,000 KRW per person, and participants can additionally donate as much as they wish. All participation fees and donations will be delivered as funds for vulnerable children and adolescents through the social welfare foundation Children and Future Foundation.

All participants will receive a sports T-shirt and sports bag engraved with the Mercedes-Benz and GIVE ‘N RACE logos. Especially this year, considering COVID-19 prevention guidelines, masks will also be provided.

Applications can be submitted on the official Mercedes-Benz GIVE ‘N RACE website until 12 PM on the 20th. Participants will be offered various prizes such as mobile coffee gift certificates, running belts, and AMG Driving Academy participation tickets through first-come, first-served and lottery methods. By downloading the Strava mobile app and joining the ‘GIVE ‘N RACE’ club, participants can also take part in pre-programs and events.

The Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee stated, “This GIVE ‘N RACE Virtual Run is held in an untact format with the intention that sharing should continue even in the difficult situation of COVID-19,” and added, “Although everyone runs separately to maintain social distancing, we want to share the message that many people who want to practice sharing are together in their own places.”
