KoAsia Supplies MIC and SPK Modules to Vingroup, Vietnam's Largest Corporation, for Smartphones

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] CoAsia announced on the 6th that it will supply microphone (MIC) and speaker (SPK) modules for smartphones to Vin Group, the largest company in Vietnam.

The supply will be made to VinSmart, Vin Group's smartphone manufacturer, through CoAsia's 100% subsidiary BSE. CoAsia plans to expand the models equipped starting with supplying VinSmart's flagship models.

Vin Group, known as the "Samsung of Vietnam," operates various businesses including smartphones, automobiles, and distribution, and currently holds the number one market capitalization in Vietnam. Since entering the smartphone market in December 2018, VinSmart's market share in the Vietnamese smartphone market reached 3rd place (18%) as of last April, about 16 months later. This ranking follows global smartphone companies Samsung Electronics and Oppo, and has a higher market share than Apple and Xiaomi.

According to the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), the first phase production capacity of VinSmart's factory located in Haiphong is 26 million units annually. Upon final completion of the factory, production capacity will increase to 125 million units per year. VinSmart has released a total of 12 smartphone models since December 2018.

Established in 1987, BSE is a company specializing in audio components such as MIC and SPK for over 30 years. BSE is annually selected as one of the global top 10 companies in the MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) microphone industry and develops, produces, and sells high-performance, high-quality audio components. In particular, it is expanding its business into new industries such as wireless earphones and voice recognition microphone solutions.

A company official stated, "We believe that entering the Vietnamese market following supplies to major customers such as Samsung Electronics and Chinese smartphone manufacturers proves our technological capabilities," and added, "We will continue to expand our global client base through this supply to Vin Group."
