Mapo-gu "Don't Forget to Pay Your Property Tax in July"

Property Tax Payment Period from the 16th to the 31st, Pay Without Invoice... Convenient Payment via Seoul City ETAX System and Tax Payment Applications

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Mapo-gu (Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun) has actively promoted property tax payment to ensure residents pay by the deadline and avoid any disadvantages, as July is the month for regular property tax payments.

The property tax obligors are owners of properties such as houses, land, and buildings as of June 1, 2020 (tax base date).

The taxable items include half of the housing portion and buildings, while the remaining half of the housing portion and the land portion will be taxed in September.

The property tax payment period is from the 16th to the 31st of this month, and payments can be made at post offices, Saemaeul Geumgo, Nonghyup, and banks nationwide.

The district encourages taxpayers to conveniently pay taxes via internet banking or credit card through the Seoul Metropolitan Government Local Tax Internet Payment System.

Additionally, payments can be made by transferring to a dedicated local tax (virtual) account or by checking and paying local taxes without a bill using one’s bankbook, cash card, or credit card at unmanned payment machines and ATMs of banks nationwide.

If a bill is needed but not received or lost, it can be reissued by visiting the Mapo-gu Office Tax Division 1 or the nearest community service center.

Furthermore, a district official stated, “By searching for ‘Seoul City Tax Payment’ or ‘STAX’ on the Apple App Store or Android Market and installing the application, residents can easily pay property tax using the electronic payment number or QR code on the bill via credit card, WeBeePay, KakaoPay, PAYCO, etc.,” urging residents to make use of these services.

Along with this, the district is operating a window for installment payment applications for the July regular property tax to support taxpayers going through difficult times due to COVID-19.

If applying for installment payment, when the principal property tax amount per tax notice exceeds 2.5 million KRW (up to 5 million KRW), the excess amount can be paid in installments within two months after the payment deadline. If the principal amount exceeds 5 million KRW, up to 50% of the tax amount can be paid in installments. Installment payment applications must be submitted to Mapo-gu Tax Division 1 by the payment deadline.
