[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Min Jun-young] Kim Dong-hyun, a former UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) fighter, said that his goal during his athletic career was to make money.
On the 5th, the SBS variety show 'Master in the House' featured Kim Dong-hyun, Yang Se-hyung, Shin Sung-rok, Cha Eun-woo, and Lee Seung-gi taking a 'Rich Habit Test.'
During the broadcast, the production team handed each cast member a 10,000 won bill and said, "Due to the recent unstable economic situation, interest in financial investment has increased," adding, "We will meet the CEO of a financial company who will teach us how to become rich. This week's master is known as Korea's Warren Buffett."
Yang Se-hyung responded to the survey question, "Do you have a clear goal for saving money?" by saying, "Of course, I do."
Lee Seung-gi then joked with Yang Se-hyung, saying, "Aren't you just saving money for the sake of saving?" which drew laughter.
Kim Dong-hyun said, "I set very detailed goals. Without strong goals, I tend to give up halfway. I wrote down things like, 'By a certain age, I will live in an apartment of a certain size in a specific neighborhood,' or 'By a certain age, I will buy a certain car.' But if the time gets close and it seems unlikely, I slightly lower my goals."
When asked, "What was your goal as a UFC fighter?" he replied, "Honestly, my goal was money. The system was flawed. They shouldn't have paid if you lost. Because they paid even if you lost, I became complacent."
He added, "You get half the money even if you lose. If only the winner had been paid, I would have definitely won. I achieved my financial goal. Some fighters aim to become champions, but I never once aimed to be a champion," he said.
