[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Kookbo (CEO Ha Hyun), a KOSPI-listed company, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the 6th with SkyBio (CEO Lim Jaechang), which owns manufacturing lines for all types of protective and quarantine masks including KF94, KF80, GN, and dental masks.
The content of this MOU states that Kookbo will be fully responsible for the distribution, sales, and logistics of masks produced by SkyBio and will supply raw materials, while Kookbo will invest in mask production facilities and provide operational support.
SkyBio is a company building a large-scale mask production system in Suwon, having introduced cleanroom facilities of class 1000 or higher, enabling the entire production line to operate fully automatically 24/7 with all employees wearing protective suits.
Notably, SkyBio has obtained permits for manufacturing and selling (exporting) quasi-drug masks and its greatest strength lies in producing all types of quarantine and protective masks including KF94, KF80, GN, dental masks, and droplet-blocking KF AD masks.
The two companies will actively cooperate to supply the recently launched ‘Skycare’ brand masks by SkyBio both domestically and internationally, strengthening mask supply capabilities and minimizing logistics costs based on Kookbo’s logistics expertise, while strategically expanding the supply of ‘Skycare’ brand masks that embody SkyBio’s outstanding technology.
Through this, Kookbo aims to strengthen its existing business capabilities and establish a new breakthrough to prepare for COVID-19, while SkyBio expects rapid supply of raw materials, which have been insufficient, and the resulting sales growth effect.
Ha Hyun, CEO of Kookbo, stated, “Having been in the logistics business for over 60 years, Kookbo possesses know-how and networks in domestic and international logistics,” adding, “We will focus on supplying Skycare masks to prevent the domestic resurgence of COVID-19 and actively exchange human and technical resources with SkyBio to broadly supply overseas markets using Kookbo’s network in the future.”
Lim Jaechang, CEO of SkyBio, said, “This business partnership has laid the foundation for us to focus solely on mask manufacturing and research and development, and we will actively pursue the development of newly developed masks capable of not only temporarily blocking but also blocking and eliminating viruses,” adding, “We will expand our business scope beyond B2B and B2C markets to the B2G (government) market to enhance corporate growth and sustainable corporate capabilities.”
Meanwhile, SkyBio is gaining attention as a promising company with global competitiveness in various fields, having established a mask manufacturing line in Suwon in addition to existing medical material manufacturing lines, medical procedure product lines, and antioxidant cosmetics manufacturing lines, now including a quasi-drug mask manufacturing line for quarantine purposes.
