[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Pohang City announced on the 5th that it received the Grand Prize and a prize money of 7 million won in the comprehensive local tax administration evaluation conducted on 23 cities and counties in Gyeongbuk Province on the 2nd.
Gyeongbuk Province conducted an evaluation of each city and county's current year collection performance, delinquent tax settlement performance, local tax expansion performance, and the establishment of a tax administration operation foundation throughout 2019. Pohang City achieved excellent results in overall tax administration work, earning the honor of the Grand Prize again this year following last year.
Pohang City strengthened delinquent tax measures such as detailed investigation of taxation data, systematic tax revenue analysis, seizure of delinquent vehicles, seizure and house searches of high-amount delinquent taxpayers, and actively promoted payment within the deadline, collecting 609.6 billion won in local taxes over the past year.
Mayor Lee Kang-deok of Pohang said, "The honor of receiving the Grand Prize is thanks to the efforts of our staff and the mature taxpaying consciousness of our citizens," adding, "We will continue to discover various taxpayer convenience policies and take the lead in realizing a trustworthy tax administration centered on taxpayers."
