[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Park Hee-eun] Famous American hip-hop artist Kanye West has announced his candidacy for the U.S. presidential election. This announcement has attracted attention as local foreign media also reported on the matter.

On the 4th (local time), Kanye West posted on his Twitter, "We must now believe in God, unify our vision, and fulfill America's promise by building our future."

Along with the hashtag '#2020VISION,' he declared, "I am running for President of the United States."

His wife, Kim Kardashian, retweeted the post. Additionally, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, replied expressing his support for Kanye West.

Consequently, foreign media such as Fox News and NBC News in the U.S. also reported Kanye West's presidential candidacy announcement, generating widespread attention.

However, with only a few months left until the U.S. presidential election in November, some speculate that it is uncertain whether he will actually run in this year's election. Attention is focused on whether Kanye West will begin a new path as a politician.

Meanwhile, Kanye West had previously expressed his intention to run in the 2020 U.S. presidential election at the 'MTV Video Music Awards' (VMA) held in 2015.

He also showed support for U.S. President Donald Trump in 2016.
