[Photo] Nowon-gu Selected as an Excellent Autonomous District for Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Nowon-gu (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) received a plaque of commendation on the 3rd for being selected as an "Outstanding Autonomous District" in the Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign.

The Seoul Community Chest of Korea conducts fundraising activities to support low-income groups located in welfare blind spots in the Seoul area. It promotes joint fundraising activities for the Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign with the 25 autonomous districts of Seoul, selecting outstanding autonomous districts each year based on the total amount of funds raised or the increase rate of cash donations compared to the previous year.

Nowon-gu was selected as an outstanding autonomous district for two consecutive years. In-kind donations increased by 132% compared to the previous year, and cash donations rose by 148%.

The Seoul Community Chest of Korea visited the mayor’s office at 2 p.m. on the 3rd to present the plaque of commendation to the outstanding autonomous district.

Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, “Although it was expected that achieving the initial target would be difficult due to the economic situation, the active participation of local residents led to exceeding the target amount,” and added, “We thank everyone who participated in the donation.”
