Samsung Electronics to Pay 100% Bonuses for Semiconductors and 75% for Home Appliances and Smartphones (Comprehensive)

Samsung Electro-Mechanics: 75% in Components and Substrate Division, 50% in Module Division
Samsung SDI: 100% in Medium and Large Batteries and Electronic Materials, 62.5% in Small Batteries

[Asia Economy Reporters Dongwoo Lee, Gimin Lee] Samsung Electronics and its electronic affiliates, Samsung Electro-Mechanics and Samsung SDI, have notified the payment rates for the Target Achievement Incentive (TAI, formerly PI) by business division. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, some divisions are reported to pay up to 100% performance bonuses.


According to industry sources on the 3rd, Samsung Electronics, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, and Samsung SDI announced the payment rates for the second half of the year’s TAI to their employees.


First, Samsung Electronics’ Device Solutions (DS) division’s Memory Semiconductor Business Unit, Foundry Business Unit, and System LSI Business Unit are all expected to receive 100% performance bonuses.


In the IT & Mobile (IM) division, both the Network Business Unit and the Wireless Business Unit, which handles smartphones, are reported to receive a 75% payment rate.


The Consumer Electronics (CE) division also notified the same 75% payment rate for both the Home Appliance Business Unit and the Visual Display (VD) Business Unit.


Additionally, Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ Component Solutions Business Unit, which handles Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors (MLCC), and the Substrate Solutions Business Unit, which manages circuit boards and package substrates, were both notified to receive 75%.


The Module Solutions Business Unit, which manufactures camera modules at Samsung Electro-Mechanics, is reported to receive 50%.


Furthermore, Samsung SDI’s Medium & Large Battery Business Unit and Electronic Materials Business Unit are to receive 100%, while the Small Battery Business Unit is to receive 62.5%.


Samsung TAI is a performance bonus paid twice a year, once in the first half and once in the second half, based on business unit performance. It combines evaluations of the business sector and business unit to pay up to 100% of the monthly base salary.


Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics is scheduled to announce its provisional second-quarter results, including sales and operating profit, on the 7th.
