[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the morning of the 3rd at 10 a.m., Noh Hyun-song, Mayor of Gangseo-gu, attended the 'National Aviation Museum Opening Ceremony' held in the outdoor space of the National Aviation Museum at Gimpo Airport and delivered a congratulatory message.


The opening ceremony was attended by Jin Sun-mi, Chairperson of the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee, National Assembly members Jin Sung-jun, Park Young-soon, Jang Kyung-tae, Son Myung-soo, 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Choi Jung-ho, Director of the National Aviation Museum, and about 80 local residents.


The opening event was conducted simply in the order of ▲congratulatory speech ▲unveiling ceremony of the statue of aviation independence activists ▲rounding, strictly adhering to quarantine rules such as wearing masks and maintaining sufficient distance between attendees to prevent COVID-19 infection.


Mayor Noh Hyun-song said, “I am very pleased that the National Aviation Museum, where you can see the history of Korea’s aviation industry and cutting-edge technology at a glance, has opened,” adding, “It will be a place of hope where children and youth, the future leaders of society, can nurture their dreams, living up to the vision of being the place where the highest dreams are met the closest.”


The National Aviation Museum held the opening ceremony to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Korean Flying School of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea (July 5, 1920), but it will close immediately after opening due to COVID-19.


The National Aviation Museum is composed of three sections: the 1st floor Aviation History Hall, the 2nd floor Aviation Industry Hall, and the 3rd floor Aviation Life Hall.


In particular, the 'Geumgangho' airplane flown by An Chang-nam, Korea’s first pilot, and training aircraft used at the Korean Flying School of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea have been restored and are on display.

Additionally, on the 2nd and 3rd floors, five experiential education rooms are available, where visitors can experience Boeing 747 flight simulation and more through prior reservation.
