[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] President Moon Jae-in has nominated former Minsaeng Party lawmaker Park Ji-won as the new Director of the National Intelligence Service. Lee In-young, a lawmaker from the Democratic Party of Korea, has been nominated as the Minister of Unification. Seo Hun, the current Director of the National Intelligence Service, has been nominated as the Chief of the National Security Office at the Blue House.


Blue House spokesperson Kang Min-seok announced these personnel decisions on the 3rd. Former Presidential Chief of Staff Im Jong-seok and National Security Office Chief Chung Eui-yong, who had drawn public attention, have been assigned roles as Special Advisors on Foreign Affairs and National Security to President Moon.


Spokesperson Kang stated, "The Chief of the National Security Office and the Special Advisors on Foreign Affairs and National Security will be appointed as early as the 6th."


Nominees Park Ji-won for Director of the National Intelligence Service and Lee In-young for Minister of Unification are expected to undergo parliamentary confirmation hearings before their appointments proceed.
