[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Kim Jong-in, Emergency Committee Chairman of the United Future Party, mentioned the existence of potential presidential candidates by saying there are "people wriggling" outside the party, while Jang Je-won, a United Future Party lawmaker, criticized this as an "untimely game of hide-and-seek."

On the 3rd, Lawmaker Jang said on Facebook, "The Democratic Party's arrogance seems poised to swallow up the National Assembly. We are not so idle as to be playing riddles," expressing his criticism.

Earlier, Chairman Kim stated, "There are people wriggling outside the party," and mentioned that he had given them advice before they joined the party. There were also reports that the external contacts Kim had were two individuals.

In response, Lawmaker Jang said, "I don't know how great those two people are, but I can't help but click my tongue at this untimely game of hide-and-seek," adding, "Right now, the Democratic Party plans to pass an enormous supplementary budget of 35 trillion won unilaterally in just three days. Our party, having missed the chance to respond to the Democratic Party's dictatorial misuse of taxpayers' money, can do nothing." Although the United Future Party is boycotting standing committees, Jang, who is part of the negotiation faction, pointed out the missed opportunity, saying, "It would have been better to enter holding seven standing committees, the National Assembly inspection, and hearings than to go in empty-handed."

He emphasized, "(The United Future Party's logic is) 'If the economy collapses, you all take responsibility,'" and said, "Right now, South Korea is witnessing a clash between the Democratic Party's 'politics of arrogance' and the United Future Party's 'politics of cynicism.' What should the people do now? Should they support arrogance to avoid collapse, or hope for collapse to judge arrogance?"

Lawmaker Jang added, "Governance is the responsibility of those willing to take responsibility, not of those trying to impose responsibility on others," and warned, "As time passes, I fear our resolve will turn into emptiness, and emptiness into incompetence. It is frustrating to have to just watch silently without any response to the shameless outrage of the ruling party's overwhelming power."
