“Public Service, Not a Place for Hierarchical Fights Like Animals”
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Former Liberty Korea Party leader Hong Joon-pyo criticized on the 3rd, saying, "The territorial dispute and chicken game between Justice Minister Chu Mi-ae and Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl only make the public more annoyed during this hot summer rainy season."
On the same day, Hong said on Facebook, "Whether the so-called minister's exercise of investigative command authority was justified or not, and why the Prosecutor General convened a special investigation team suspected of protecting his close aides instead of just receiving the investigation results, the two's unreasonable behavior is clearly visible and cannot help but make the public frown."
Hong pointed out, "If each fulfills their respective responsibilities and roles, it would be fine, but the minister unjustly pressures the Prosecutor General, and the Prosecutor General's exercise of command authority, which seems to apply excessive investigative pressure to protect his close aides, are both wrong."
Hong added, "Considering the nature of the Ministry of Justice, the relationship between the minister and the Prosecutor General is not hierarchical, so I hope each will fulfill their responsibilities and duties within their own domains," and said, "The public service community is not a place for hierarchical fights like in the animal kingdom."
