Lotte Department Store Jamsil Branch, Kyobo Bookstore Renovation... Personalized Book Recommendations for Emotional Care

[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] Lotte Department Store unveiled a newly renovated Kyobo Bookstore on the basement 1st floor of Castle Plaza at Jamsil Branch on the 3rd.

Kyobo Bookstore, which first opened in 2006, has been reborn after a three-month renewal construction this year. It spans 3758㎡ (approximately 1100 pyeong) and houses 240,000 books. At Kyobo Bookstore Hottracks, customers can enjoy and experience various forms of culture by purchasing music albums, digital products, and design stationery.

The renewal features new specialized service spaces such as book recommendations and themed reading areas. First, the ‘Sajjeogin Seojeom’ (Private Bookstore) is a book curation shop uniquely offered only at the Jamsil Branch among Kyobo Bookstores. This small bookstore, operating as a shop-in-shop within Kyobo Bookstore, consists of about 50 types of books personally read and selected by the bookstore keeper. The ‘Book Prescription Program’ is a reservation-based service that provides a 30-minute one-on-one consultation to recommend personalized books. During July, a free event for a ‘Mini Book Prescription (10 minutes)’ is held, and from August, the service will be available for a fee through advance reservation.

Additionally, the themed reading spaces ‘Hannat’ (Midday) and ‘Dalbam’ (Moonlit Night) regularly change themes to decorate the spaces and display recommended books. Located next to the children’s corner, the family resting and reading space ‘Olmangjolmong’ allows parents and children to enjoy books together. The specialty coffee book caf? ‘Cafe Jau’ is also introduced. Furthermore, ‘Saramgwa Chaek’ (People and Books) is a space where visitors can experience Kyobo Bookstore’s brand concept, offering goods such as diffusers, hand sanitizers, book covers, patches, and tote bags made with Kyobo’s signature scent ‘The Scent of Bookshelf.’

Various events have been prepared to celebrate the renewal. When purchasing Kyobo Bookstore products, customers receive gifts such as air fresheners, perfumes, hand sanitizers, and aromatherapy sticks based on Kyobo Bookstore’s signature scent according to the purchase amount. Also, events such as summer night sky lantern wish-making, decorating a play wall with stickers, and a stamp tour will be held. Participants in these events will receive hand cream, tumbler tissues, coffee coupons, and more as gifts.
