Guidance in 6 Languages Including Korean, English, and Chinese via Mobile Voice Conversion App... Expanding Civil Service Accessibility for Socially Vulnerable Groups Such as the Visually Impaired and Foreigners
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) has introduced a 'voice guidance service' for socially vulnerable groups such as the visually impaired and foreign residents living in Korea in the '2020 Civil Service Satisfaction Survey.'
Through this, socially vulnerable groups can participate in the survey using voice guidance in five languages?Korean, English, Chinese, Japanese, and French?by utilizing the 'voice conversion barcode' embedded in the survey form and a mobile phone voice conversion app.
The district noted that the existing braille book method used for the visually impaired in the survey form was inconvenient and had low utilization. With the increasing number of foreign residents in the area, the focus shifted to expanding civil service and living convenience services for foreign residents, leading to the introduction of the 'voice guidance service.'
The civil service satisfaction survey will be conducted from July 3 to 31 at the integrated civil service office on the first floor of the district office. In accordance with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's '2020 Basic Guidelines for Civil Administration and System Improvement,' the survey will cover 'civil service environment,' 'job satisfaction,' and 'other suggestions,' and will be conducted using university student part-time workers.
The survey results will be used as basic data for creating facilities and environments to provide trusted civil service processing, strengthen capabilities for professional civil administration, and offer demand-oriented administrative services.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, "We will do our best to implement universal administrative services that satisfy everyone regardless of class or nationality," and added, "We hope many residents will participate in this survey to improve the quality of the district's administrative services."
