7 COVID-19 Cases Confirmed at Academy Attended by Daegu Confirmed Female High School Student

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] Daegu City announced on the 2nd that 7 additional people, including staff and students of the academy attended by A, a third-year student at Daegu Gyeongmyeong Girls' High School who tested positive for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), have been infected.

The quarantine authorities conducted tests on about 300 people, including staff of Yeongi Academy in Jung-gu, Daegu, which A attended, and school officials. It is expected that the number of confirmed cases will increase depending on the results. In addition, among the additional confirmed cases, 3 students were found to attend different schools, so the number of schools subject to suspension of attendance is expected to increase.

The school attended by A has suspended in-person attendance for all students and replaced it with remote classes. The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education plans to monitor the test results and decide on whether to resume in-person classes next week.
