Gwangju Police Focus on Strengthening 'Quarantine-Oriented Public Safety Activities' Capabilities

On-site Inspections of High-Risk Facilities Such as Entertainment Bars in Coordination with Local Governments

Gwangju Police Focus on Strengthening 'Quarantine-Oriented Public Safety Activities' Capabilities

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Police are shifting all their efforts to quarantine-focused policing activities and will actively carry out police activities to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

On the 2nd, the Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency announced that it will conduct on-site inspections together with local governments to ensure that the gathering restriction measures are properly implemented at 3,831 high-risk facilities of 14 types, including entertainment bars, within the jurisdiction.

In addition, they plan to support the stable establishment of the electronic entry log system, which is being fully implemented.

Since indoor gatherings of more than 50 people and outdoor gatherings of more than 100 people are prohibited, and mask-wearing is mandatory for all citizens, they will focus on promoting the dispersion of crowd density and mask-wearing at religious facilities, wedding halls, funeral halls, and various event venues, while also conducting on-site guidance activities.

Given the serious situation of local COVID-19 infections, the police will cooperate with Gwangju City from the epidemiological investigation stage, quickly identifying contacts and confirming their movements as soon as confirmed cases occur, thereby facilitating prompt diagnostic testing and self-quarantine.

Furthermore, just as there were mass cluster infections caused by door-to-door sales companies visiting Seoul and Daejeon, illegal activities by unregistered multi-level marketing companies or high-risk business activities within the Gwangju area will be strictly monitored and cracked down on along with intelligence gathering activities.

Any COVID-19 related violations, such as false statements during epidemiological investigations leading to prosecution, will be prioritized for investigation and dealt with strongly.

A representative of the Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency stated, “Regarding our core policing activities, all functions will take quarantine-focused policing activities at the level of enhanced social distancing and implement internal quarantine measures,” adding, “We will do our best to curb the spread of COVID-19 and restore peaceful daily life to citizens.”
