[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] President Moon Jae-in and the First Lady visited the site of the ‘Korea Together Sale, Let’s Buy Value’ held on the afternoon of the 2nd at the KSPO Dome (formerly Gymnastics Stadium) in Olympic Park, Seoul. President Moon made the on-site visit to revitalize the domestic market, which has been struggling due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Yoon Jae-kwan, Deputy Spokesperson of the Blue House, stated, "This is an effort to restore consumer sentiment that has been depressed due to COVID-19 and to promote safe domestic consumption under daily quarantine measures," adding, "The schedule reflects the President’s intention to strengthen on-site communication with various economic actors facing difficulties from COVID-19, including traditional markets, small business owners, and online and offline sellers."
President Moon and the First Lady participated both on-site and via screen in a non-face-to-face communication stage with participants of the Korea Together Sale, where they were introduced to BrandK, K-Farm, K-Fashion, and K-Beauty products being sold at the sale, and continued non-face-to-face communication with the participants.
In particular, various participants in the Together Sale, such as neighborhood supermarket operators, live commerce sellers, local live commerce producers and cast members, and representatives of traditional market online platforms, spoke in a non-face-to-face manner and had a non-face-to-face communication session with the President and the First Lady via screen.
Deputy Spokesperson Yoon explained, "The non-face-to-face communication stage is composed of a 360-degree full screen, and real-time two-way communication is implemented through multi-split screens and live video chat systems," adding, "In addition to on-site participants in the Together Sale, about 80 people nationwide, including small business owners in traditional markets and alleyway commercial districts, online and offline Together Sale sellers, and live commerce consumers, were connected live and their appearances were displayed on the 360-degree screen for non-face-to-face participation."
Meanwhile, President Moon emphasized the significance of this Together Sale, the first public-private cooperative discount event involving all economic actors from large corporations to traditional markets and small business owners, to overcome COVID-19 and stimulate consumption, and urged national participation to promote consumption. The event was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister for Economy, the Minister of SMEs and Startups, and representatives from companies including Naver and TMON.
