[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction announced on the 2nd that it has secured an order worth 70 billion KRW for equipment at the Fujairah F3 combined cycle power plant in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Doosan Heavy Industries plans to supply one 270 MW steam turbine and one 540 MW steam turbine along with generators. The company explained that it signed the supply contract after competing with multiple global major power equipment manufacturers in an international competitive bidding process.
This project involves constructing a combined power plant with a maximum capacity of 2,400 MW in the Fujairah region, about 300 km northeast of Abu Dhabi, UAE. Samsung C&T is carrying out the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) work.
Park Hong-wook, Head of Power Service BG at Doosan Heavy Industries, said, “It is significant to win the order by surpassing global competitors amid the trend of larger steam turbines for combined cycle power plants in the global power market. We will use this project as an opportunity to further strengthen our position in the Middle East market and accelerate orders for power equipment.”
Meanwhile, according to data released last year by market research firm IHS Markit, the global gas power generation market is expected to see an average annual increase in capacity of 68 GW until 2030.
