Press Conference on the 10th Anniversary of Inauguration on the 2nd
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Geon-ju] Kim Seung-hwan, Superintendent of Education for Jeonbuk Province, held a press conference on the 2nd under the theme "The heart of Jeonbuk education is still burning," stating that his love and passion for children continue.
At the event, Superintendent Kim said, "I have run vigorously for 10 years," adding, "Over the past decade, we have restored the pride of Jeonbuk education that was collapsing and have walked a single path toward education that saves children," and stated, "For all students not to be excluded from learning, they must be free from concerns about food and clothing, which led to free school meals."
He also said, "We will continue efforts to break free from square playgrounds, square schools, and classrooms trapped in a mold," emphasizing, "Jeonbuk education has now become the standard for innovative education."
Furthermore, he said, "Building on 10 years of innovative education as a stepping stone, we will complete educational autonomy and let school autonomy blossom," and presented plans for the complete national responsibility system for ‘free high school education’ and the ‘activation of the educational ecosystem.’
In response to a reporter’s question about parents’ concerns over the decline in minimum academic achievement among Jeonbuk students, Superintendent Kim raised his voice, saying, "That is one of the frames attacking Jeonbuk education and Superintendent Kim Seung-hwan," adding, "The basis for this was the nationwide standardized test, and those attacking never mention the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT)."
When asked about the direction and achievements of innovative education, he said firmly, "Currently, 185 schools have undergone or are maintaining innovative school status," and added, "The difference between students who have received innovative school education and those who have not lies in the 'ability to think independently.'"
