[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] Justice Minister Choo Mi-ae emphasized, "If it becomes difficult to wait any longer, I will make a decision when it is time to decide," regarding Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol's position.
On the 1st, Minister Choo responded this way to a question from Choi Ki-sang, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, during an emergency inquiry at the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee about suspicions of collusion between prosecutors and media.
Minister Choo further stated, "Prosecutor General Yoon has issued an official directive to follow the decisions of the chief prosecutors' meeting, but he keeps making opposing decisions," adding, "I am quite concerned."
Regarding the agenda of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office chief prosecutors' meeting, she mentioned that besides the arrest warrant request for the former Channel A reporter, "the indictment of Prosecutor Han Dong-hoon has also been added." Responding to Democratic Party lawmaker Baek Hye-ryun's remark that "if both cases proceed simultaneously, there is concern that the testimonies regarding the conspiracy between the two individuals might change," she said, "This needs to be properly examined."
She also stated, "It should be common sense in investigations to first arrest the person identified as the main culprit, so I cannot help but raise objections to the change in the agenda."
