[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Kim Samho, Mayor of Gwangsan District, Gwangju Metropolitan City, launched COVID-19 quarantine activities as his first task in the second half of the 7th term of the elected government.
According to Gwangsan District on the 1st, Mayor Kim started his district administration by disinfecting inside and outside a door-to-door sales company in Songjeong 2-dong on the same day.
As the quarantine authorities recently designated door-to-door sales companies as high-risk facilities for the spread of COVID-19, Mayor Kim set the period until the 3rd as a week to inspect compliance with quarantine rules at door-to-door sales companies.
The district formed an inspection team of 10 people in 5 groups to inspect 111 door-to-door sales companies and exhibition halls during this week.
The inspection will check compliance with quarantine rules for high-risk facilities and the use of the electronic entry log system (KI-Pass).
Mayor Kim said, “Gwangsan District was the first in Gwangju to confront COVID-19 last February, and through that process, we have acquired the capability to manage the situation safely while minimizing damage. I am confident that Gwangsan can be secured under any circumstances because of the 420,000 citizens who care for the community in difficult times, and I will do my best to create a safe Gwangsan from COVID-19 together with these citizens.”
Meanwhile, separately from the quarantine and inspection of door-to-door sales companies, Gwangsan District will conduct intensive inspections of 571 locations including senior welfare facilities such as senior centers and senior welfare centers used by infection-vulnerable elderly people, as well as job provision institutions during the same period. In addition, to prepare for the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and large-scale outbreaks, a ‘COVID-19 Response TF’ overseeing quarantine operations will be established and operated starting from the 8th of this month.
