Assemblyman Song Gap-seok's Legislative Hearing on the "Support Act for Smart Manufacturing Innovation in Small and Medium Enterprises"

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Assemblyman Song Gap-seok (The Democratic Party of Korea, Gwangju Seo-gu Gap) announced on the 1st that he held a legislative public hearing on the "Support Act for Smart Manufacturing Innovation of Small and Medium Enterprises."

Assemblyman Song said, "Although there are laws such as the Industrial Technology Innovation Promotion Act and the Small and Medium Enterprise Technology Innovation Promotion Act, there is insufficient legal basis to support 'manufacturing innovation,'" adding, "We have newly pursued related legislation to establish a smart manufacturing innovation promotion system and to build smart factories and manufacturing data platforms."

The forum was attended by Lee Hak-young, Chairman of the Industry, Trade, and Small and Medium Venture Business Committee, as well as numerous related organizations and experts.

Starting with a presentation by Han Jeong-mi, Head of the Innovation Legislation Project Division at the Korea Legislation Research Institute, active discussions were held on topics such as the current status of support policies for smart manufacturing innovation in SMEs, the necessity of legislation for the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Support Act, and legislative plans.

Participants in the discussion included Cho Joo-hyun, Head of the SME Smart Manufacturing Innovation Planning Team at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Lee Joon-seop, Professor at Ajou University School of Law, Jeong Wook-jo, Head of the Innovation Growth Division at the Korea Federation of SMEs, and Dr. Noh Min-seon from the Korea Institute for Industrial Economics and Trade.

Meanwhile, the Small and Medium Enterprise Smart Manufacturing Innovation Support Act aims to promote smart manufacturing innovation and help create a data-driven manufacturing innovation ecosystem.

The need for stable policy support for manufacturing innovation, such as manufacturing process efficiency and integrated quality management, has been steadily raised.
