[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Renault Samsung Motors announced on the 1st that it sold a total of 14,260 units in June, a 23.7% decrease compared to the same month last year.
Among these, domestic sales reached 13,668 units, an 80.7% increase from 7,564 units in the same period last year, and a 29.3% increase compared to 10,571 units in the previous month. Thanks to the new car effect following the March launch of the XM3 and the steady popularity of the QM6, domestic sales exceeded 10,000 units per month for four consecutive months.
However, exports recorded 592 units, a 94.7% decrease from 11,122 units in the same period last year, resulting in an overall 23.7% decline.
Additionally, Renault Samsung Motors’ domestic sales in the first half of this year totaled 55,242 units, a 51.3% increase compared to the same period last year, while export sales were 12,424 units, a 74.8% decrease compared to the same period last year. The total sales volume combining domestic and export sales for the first half was 67,666 units, a 21.2% decrease compared to 85,844 units in the same period last year.
The XM3 led domestic sales by selling 5,330 units in June alone. This was a 6.4% increase compared to the previous month, with the TCe 260 accounting for 3,979 units or 74.7%, and the 1.6 GTe making up 25.3%. Customers choosing the top trim, the TCe 260 RE Signature, still accounted for more than half at 52%. The XM3 surpassed 20,000 units in cumulative sales with 22,252 units sold by June, just four months after its launch.
The SM6 and QM6 sold 1,443 units and 6,237 units respectively, driving performance alongside the XM3.
