[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Choi Hyun-joo] The Gyeongnam Office of Education announced on the 1st that the 47th Gyeongnam Young Farmers' Advancement Competition was held at Gimhae Life Science High School, Gyeongnam Jayoung High School, and Hamyang Jeil High School.


The competition was held on the 30th of last month. Although it has been held annually at Gimhae Life Science High School, this year it was conducted simultaneously at three schools considering the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).


In the major competition, 35 students from Gyeongnam Jayoung High School, 20 from Hamyang Jeil High School, and 48 from Gimhae Life Science High School competed. At Gimhae Life Science High School, a total of 108 students participated: 11 in the task completion presentation field, 41 in the practical skills competition, and 8 in the global leadership competition.


The 72 students who won awards in this competition will participate as representatives of Gyeongnam at the National Young Farmers' Advancement Competition, held at Korea Life Science High School in Gyeongbuk from September 23 to 24.


Jung Hong-gyun, Director of the Creative Talent Division at the Gyeongnam Office of Education, said, “This year’s competition was prepared in various forms linked with the local community,” and urged, “We hope they become passionate young farmers for the future development of rural areas.”
