[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Jeju Shinhwa World announced on the 1st that it donated 10,000 hygiene masks to students in Jeju Island in collaboration with the Jeju branch of the Korean Red Cross.
The mask donation ceremony took place on the 30th of last month at Jeju Shinhwa World, attended by Tigo Young, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Jeju Shinhwa World, and Oh Hong-sik, Chairman of the Jeju branch of the Korean Red Cross.
Amid the recent surge of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Jeju Island, it was decided to donate masks to help protect the safety of students in the region. Priority support will be given to students at four special needs schools in the area.
Chairman Oh Hong-sik said, “This mask donation from Jeju Shinhwa World is the largest quantity received so far through the Korean Red Cross Jeju branch,” adding, “We believe this will be a great encouragement and a timely relief for all schools and parents in Jeju who are fully focused on protecting the safety of students.”
COO Tigo Young stated, “It is heartbreaking that students are still unable to attend normal school activities due to the ongoing impact of COVID-19 for several months,” and added, “Jeju Shinhwa World always supports students in the region, and we hope this mask donation will bring some comfort to them.”
Meanwhile, Jeju Shinhwa World has been running various programs for children and students in the region. Last year, it signed agreements with Jeju City, Seogwipo City, and local children’s centers, inviting about 1,600 children and students from the area to the Shinhwa Theme Park.
