One-Stop "Pregnancy Support Service"... Online Application for Infertile Couples' Treatment Cost Assistance

[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Various pregnancy support services provided by government agencies and local governments can now be searched and applied for in one place.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Ministry of Health and Welfare announced on the 1st that since the 30th of last month, the "Mom Comfortable Pregnancy" one-stop service has been piloted in 20 local governments.

Until now, to receive pregnancy support services, individuals had to apply separately and visit public health centers.

By using the Mom Comfortable Pregnancy service, 10 types of services such as folic acid supplements, iron supplements, maternal and newborn health care support, Mom Comfortable KTX (special car discount), and the standard mother-child health handbook, along with an average of 3 types of services provided by each local government (such as parking permits for pregnant women), can be applied for online at once, and pregnant women can receive them by delivery at home without visiting the public health center in person.

Pregnant women who wish to use the service can apply online (Government24) after issuing a National Happiness Card (Health Insurance Pregnancy and Childbirth Medical Expense Voucher), or visit the community center or public health center in the pilot area.

Support for infertility treatment costs can also be applied for online. Until now, applicants had to visit public health centers and submit required documents such as medical certificates, but now they can submit and apply through Government24, and the treatment cost support decision notice can also be printed online and brought to the hospital.

The government plans to improve any shortcomings of the Mom Comfortable Pregnancy service through the pilot operation in 20 local governments and expand it nationwide from March next year. Four additional services, including pregnancy and childbirth medical expense support (National Happiness Card, medical aid recipients, teenage mothers) and energy vouchers, will be added to the one-stop application services.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety plans to continuously expand lifecycle package services that bundle related services according to various situations people experience from birth to death.

Yoon Jong-in, Vice Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, said, "The government plans to discover and provide package services that allow citizens to receive what they want in advance and at once, tailored to each stage of the lifecycle," adding, "Taking this pilot implementation of the Mom Comfortable Pregnancy service as an opportunity, we will provide 11 types of lifecycle services customized from pregnancy and childbirth stages to inheritance, continuously enhancing citizens' satisfaction with services."
